Plenty to do in the Bay Of Plenty

The Bay of Plenty is an area full of coastal activities and attractions of all kinds. There are long surf beaches with excellent waves, sheltered harbours for all types of water activities and a vibrant dining scene. The City of Tauranga provides the best choice of accommodation, restaurants and shopping in the Bay of Plenty. Its close proximity to the beachside holiday town of Mount Maunganui makes it an attractive destination for everyone.  Hire a bus in Tauranga to enjoy all that the Bay of Plenty has to offer.

Other towns which make up the region include the seaside settlements of Waihi Beach, Papamoa, Whakatane and Maketu, the kiwifruit capital of Te Puke and the mural town of Katikati. The warm climate provides an abundance of fruit and vegetables which can be bought at roadside stalls. Tauranga harbour is the perfect place for swimming, kayaking, kite surfing, sailing and boating. Deep-sea fishing charters will take you out further in search of marlin, trevally, kingfish and snapper or you can spend the day on a dolphin encounter just relaxing and taking in the view. Back on land there are masses of things to do.

Choose from a selection of top quality golf courses, try blokarting along the Papamoa beach front or visit some of The Bay of Plenty’s most spectacular gardens, wineries or museums. Take a scenic flight over an active volcano or go jet boating or white water rafting down the rapids. There are hot pools at the base of Mount Maunganui as well as a rewarding walk around the Mount itself which is reasonably easy and provides some stunning views of the harbour, ocean and beaches. If you have a group then hire a bus to experience these activities.  Horse treks, mountain biking, and scenic drives will help you enjoy your experience even more.
