What is there to explore with a bus in the North Shore

Devonport is the primary navel base for New Zealand.  It is a nice seaside suburb with plenty of character, beautiful beaches and classy cafes.  Visit the north head and see the gun emplacements, explore the tunnels and slide down the hill.

Takapuna has the biggest shopping area in the North Shore.  The beaches are sheltered, have nice white sand, lovely rock pools and are clean.  If you are visiting Takapuna by bus, stop off and see Lake Pupuke which sits close to Milford.  You can kayak, sail or even swim in the lake.  There is an old quarry next to it that is a famous place for locals to swim, however be careful it is deep and not buoyant at all.  So unless you are an excellent swimmer don’t venture in.

Birkenhead and Glenfield are known for their views across Auckland.  They have some good markets and walks.  A bus trip to the Cheslea sugar factory near the Harbour bridge is always a good idea if you have a number of kids to entertain.

Greenhithe has some incredible parks and open spaces for walks.  You can walk along the inner harbour and through the various parks.

Browns Bay and Torbay Bay are some of the upper north shore areas.  Both have beautiful beaches.  The beaches stretch from Devonport all the way up.  Long beach is a nice park to bus to with your group.  Great for swimming, playing and entertaining.
