Hawkes Bay
The region of Hawkes Bay is blessed with a temperate climate, delicious fresh produce and award-winning wineries. There is always something happening here with a huge selection of events, concerts and festivals held annually. The main areas that make up the Hawkes Bay are Napier, Hastings, Havelock North, the northern beaches of Wairoa and Mahia and Lake Waikaremoana in the Te Urewera National Park. Hire a bus in Napier or Hastings to enjoy it that it offers.
Hawkes Bay attractions and activities take advantage of the region’s natural beauty and include cycle tours, hot air ballooning, white water rafting and kayaking. A must-do while you are in the Hawkes Bay is a visit out to the Gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers. The art deco City of Napier has an interesting collection of historical buildings to explore. The architecture has evolved from a destructive earthquake that required the entire City to be reconstructed in 1931 and visiting this reconnaissance provides an interesting insight into the Hawke’s Bay’s history.
Along with an excellent dining and entertainment scene in the cities and towns, there are over 70 Hawkes Bay wineries for food and wine lovers to visit by bus. Trendy eateries combine with vineyard restaurants, waterfront alfresco dining and historical pubs to offer a variety of dining styles to suit all budgets.
