Sunny Nelson

Nelson is the gateway to 3 beautiful National Parks including Able Tasman National Park, Nelson Lakes National Park and Kahurangi National Park. If you’re looking to escape the winter Nelson has the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand and is blessed with a mild climate.  Hire a bus with us to enjoy sunny Nelson. Nelson has claimed many of New Zealand’s top tourism awards including the latest culinary tourism destination, the best destination for kite surfing in the country and the nation’s craft brewing capital. It doesn’t stop there with 25 different wineries to explore, excellent fly fishing and some of the best kayaking and white water rafting tours you have ever seen.

A part of the reason for Nelson’s success lies in the location. Perfectly protected by sheltered bays and native forest, the whole Nelson Bays area is like a gigantic sun trap. As a result many visitors come to Nelson to see what all the fuss is about. Nelson holds plenty of regular events that are well supported including the Nelson Arts festival, Opera in the Park and the Nelson Winter Music Festival. Events are held throughout all four seasons so it is easy to organise your holiday around at least around one of these. Nelson City is a vibrant place with historic buildings, leafy streets and heaps of action.

Nelson attractions and activities are highlighted by the superb cycling conditions. Mountain bike enthusiasts will enjoy the variety of tracks on offer from gently undulating beginners trails right through to the well known and challenging Heaphy Track. Excellent tramping conditions are a major attraction with the Heaphy track as among New Zealand’s top 10 walks and the Kahurangi National Park also offering good tramps. Nelson accommodation oozes character which can be found at a range of bed and breakfasts, self-contained cottages, luxury lodges and homestays. International hotels, seaside motels, holiday Parks and Backpackers are dotted everywhere throughout the Nelson area, both in the City and the country.

There is so much to see and do in Nelson. Nelson has long golden beaches, seal colonies, prolific birdlife, fantastic bush walks, freshwater springs and a culinary smorgasbord of food and wine to choose from, in fact it really is New Zealand in a bottle.
